I have been volunteering with an animal rescue group for the past 4 years (Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society). This is a group in Calgary who takes in abandoned, surrendered, or abused animals, and finds them forever homes where they can live out their lives surrounded by love and compassion.

On September 13, 2014, there was a crash on Highway 2 near Olds, where a rescue group in Saskatchewan was transporting 30 rescue dogs to Edmonton from LA. Many dogs were injured, several died, and 8 escaped. Two dogs were still missing but one was found today! He had been on the run for 5 days, but was luckily suffering from only a few scrapes. There is still one dog out there, and he will hopefully be found soon. I am proud to be part of the group of volunteers that has been out there looking for the dogs since last week. Such an amazing group of people!
