EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a form of treatment that is used for a variety of concerns, including PTSD, anxiety, grief, depression, low self esteem, stress and excessive worry, disordered eating, and others.
In addition to treating general anxiety, EMDR is also very effective in alleviating symptoms of phobias, panic disorder, and panic attacks. If you are suffering from anxiety, this is a great treatment for you.
In EMDR sessions, past negative or anxiety-provoking experiences are targeted in order to reduce the level of anxiety. The associations that you have between certain circumstances and anxious feelings will be changed, so that the situation (eg. certain people, places, or things) will no longer be distressing.
For example, if you have a fear of snakes or birds or driving, you will feel a significantly reduced level of anxiety, or none at all after EMDR treatment. Or, if you get panic attacks for seemingly no reason, targeted treatment will get rid of the attacks. If you have a high level of anxiety in general, EMDR will reduce the anxiety to a normal level of functioning.
EMDR facilitates cognitive changes and provides a lasting decrease in anxiety symptoms. If you are experiencing anxiety, EMDR can help you. You don’t have to live with anxiety!
